The Association of Community Cancer Centers Joins Oncology Stakeholders in Welcoming Recently Appointed CMMI Director Smith

Rockville, MD — Since the inception of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) and the Innovation Center’s launch of the Oncology Care Model (OCM), the Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) has deeply valued the opportunity to support stakeholders through its Oncology Care Model Collaborative. ACCC congratulates Brad Smith on his appointment as Director of CMMI and Senior Advisor to Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Azar for Value-Based Transformation. ACCC appreciates the depth of healthcare perspective and commitment to innovation Director Smith brings to this role.

As the U.S. healthcare system travels on the transformative journey to value-based care, ACCC welcomes the opportunity to bring together oncology stakeholders to engage in forward-looking, collaborative work in the best interest of patients and all those on the frontlines of care delivery. Over the course of the Oncology Care Model, ACCC has valued fostering constructive, solutions-oriented dialogue with CMMI and model participants. These conversations are critical given the rapid advances in oncology knowledge coupled with the estimates for increased demand for cancer services in the coming years. ACCC looks forward to continuing to serve as a resource for the oncology community and CMMI under the leadership of Director Smith as the next chapter in value-based oncology care unfolds and new models emerge.
