ACCC President's Message
As we continue to advance this year’s ACCC presidential theme—Designing Oncology Care to Meet the Needs of a Growing Patient Population—one thing remains clear: The strength of our organization lies in the diversity, expertise, and perspective of those who serve in it.
The ACCC Board of Trustees plays a critical role in shaping the future of oncology care delivery—guiding strategy, influencing policy, and ensuring that ACCC remains responsive to the real-world needs of our members and the patients we serve. But that kind of leadership does not happen in isolation. It is cultivated within our cancer programs, our multidisciplinary teams, and our day-to-day work.
I invite you to take a moment and look around your organization. Who is the person others turn to for insight or innovation? Who consistently elevates the conversation, bridges disciplines, or challenges the status quo in productive ways? Who understands not just their role, but the system as a whole? These individuals may not always hold the most senior titles, but they often hold the perspective we need most.
ACCC has always been grounded in multidisciplinary collaboration. Our strength comes from bringing together administrators, physicians, nurses, pharmacists, advanced practice providers, navigators, social workers, clinical scientists, and many others who collectively design and deliver cancer care. As we think about the future composition of our Board, it is essential that we continue to reflect that breadth of experience. We are particularly interested in individuals who:
This is an invitation to begin thinking intentionally about succession, representation, and leadership development within our field. If someone comes to mind, I encourage you to start the conversation with them. Leadership at the ACCC level is both a responsibility and an opportunity—to influence care at scale, to elevate the voice of your program, and to help shape what comes next for oncology care delivery.
Over the coming months, ACCC will continue to share more about pathways to engagement and leadership within the Association. In the meantime, your insight is invaluable. The future of oncology care will not be designed by a single discipline—or a single voice—but by all of us working together. By intentionally recognizing and encouraging emerging leaders within our own organizations, we strengthen the foundation of ACCC and ensure it reflects the full spectrum of expertise across our field.
