Turning Action Into Outcomes: Highlights From the ACCC 2025 Impact Report

As ACCC’s membership base continues to grow, so do its efforts to learn and collaborate cross-culturally with health care professionals around the world. At the ACCC 42nd National Oncology Conference (NOC), attendees heard from providers representing Canada, Mexico, and the United States during the Shared Solutions for Rural Oncology: Insights Across the Americas panel—the second iteration of the ACCC Global eXchange panel on a national stage. 

Panelists discussed the unique challenges faced by patients living in rural and remote areas, including geographic distance, limited infrastructure, and cultural and linguistic barriers. Equally important were the solutions shared that have proven effective across borders, such as prioritizing community engagement, lived experiences, navigation programs, and culturally tailored outreach. 

As part of ACCC’s commitment to fostering knowledge sharing and driving meaningful change worldwide, Oncology Issues spotlighted programs across the globe, including the Baheya Foundation in Egypt, a model of breast cancer care that offers free, comprehensive services to women across Egypt. The journal also explored the results of a study on breast cancer knowledge gaps and misconceptions among non-medical female university students in southwestern Nigeria, highlighting how factors like ethnicity, level of education, and religion influence knowledge and misconceptions. 

Innovative Solutions Barriers to Care 

In 2025, six cancer programs received an ACCC Innovator Award for their creative and cost-effective solutions to some of the most pressing challenges in cancer care today. Championing Equitable Access to Care Through High-Quality Resources 

One of ACCC’s core values is to develop educational programming that not only advances the delivery of cancer care, but does so through a health equity lens, to ensure that vulnerable and at-risk populations receive the highest standard of care, no matter their location, age, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status.  

In support of this core value, ACCC created a diverse array of resources to highlight and address disparities in care, including the following: 

• A national food insecurity webinar featuring real-world examples of integrating nutrition into cancer programs 
• A Veteran’s Care initiative, including a curated resource library of patient guides, videos, and research articles, and a Summit to Address Disparities in Veterans With Cancer 
• An article summarizing outcomes from the Inclusive Clinical Trial Design Summit, where providers gathered to develop actionable strategies to make oncology trials more representative and accessible 
• An updated resource hub dedicated to disparities in bladder cancer, with case-based learning, biomarker testing updates, and multidisciplinary management strategies. 

2025 Trending Now in Cancer Care Report 

As cancer programs navigate increasing patient volumes and persistent staffing pressures, innovative models of care are rapidly reshaping the oncology landscape. 2025 Trending Now in Cancer Care Part 1 highlights how forward-thinking organizations are deploying AI-driven tools, virtual care solutions, and collaborative partnerships to reimagine the patient experience and strengthen operational performance. The report showcases growth opportunities in oncology and practical examples of how teams are leveraging strategic partnerships and technology to simplify complex workflows, expand reach, and elevate clinical outcomes—all while improving sustainability, building capacity, and easing provider strain.  

As the oncology field undergoes rapid transformation, 2025 Trending Now in Cancer Care Part 2 explores how leading cancer programs are innovating to overcome today’s most complex challenges—from staffing shortages and reimbursement pressures to mental health needs and barriers to research participation. This edition spotlights emerging approaches such as digitally delivered psycho-oncology services, AI-enabled early detection, decentralized trial models, and whole-person navigation.  

Each example demonstrates how organizations are improving outcomes, lowering costs, and advancing equity across diverse patient populations. Backed by real-world results, actionable frameworks, and compelling patient narratives, this report serves as an essential guide for oncology leaders committed to driving meaningful, measurable change within their communities. 

Leading Advocacy Efforts 

ACCC members had a unique opportunity to engage directly with members of Congress and their staff on Capitol Hill Day last March as part of the 51st Annual Meeting and Cancer Center Business Summit. During these meetings, attendees brought forward 5 key issues through which ACCC aims to improve the delivery of comprehensive cancer care at the national level: 

1. Prior authorization 
2. Financial toxicity 
3. Inflation Reduction Act 
4. Patient navigation services reimbursement  
5. Drug shortages.
