Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) 36th National Oncology Conference Provides How-To Strategies for the Cancer Care Team

Hundreds of oncology professionals will gather for this “how-to” conference to hear the latest improvement ideas and effective practices in action for the entire multidisciplinary care team.

Conference sessions will offer fresh approaches and novel solutions with inspiring presentations, practical sessions, and collaborative discussions that will help drive real-world change in cancer care.

Featured speakers at the ACCC 36th National Oncology Conference, October 30 — November 1 in Orlando, FL, will challenge thinking with their personal narratives and insider’s perspective of oncology care.

Joe Mull, MEd, CSP, Healthcare Speaker and Trainer

No More Team Drama: Ending the Gossip, Cliques, and Other Crap that Can Damage the Multidisciplinary Cancer Care Team

Joe’s presentation will go beyond the concept of “team-building” to demonstrate how to influence the interpersonal dynamics of workplace interactions so multidisciplinary cancer teams can consistently work harder, get along better, and “wow” patients and their families.

Mary Elizabeth Williams, Author and Journalist

Results Not Typical

Based on her experience as a participant in a groundbreaking immunotherapy clinical trial, Mary Elizabeth Williams will share strategies for how patients and providers can work together to bring clinical trials to a more diverse patient population.

Laura Holmes Haddad, Cancer Survivor

The Changing Face of the Cancer Patient Experience

Laura Holmes Haddad will discuss the experience of being diagnosed with cancer at an age that many adults consider to be their “prime time,” during which they build careers, homes, and families. Holmes Haddad says that people in this phase of life experience cancer differently than do older adults, who account for the largest number of patients diagnosed with cancer.

2019 ACCC Innovator Award Program

During the 36th National Oncology Conference, ACCC will present its ninth annual Innovator Awards to seven forward-thinking Cancer Program Members that are paving the way in care delivery with replicable solutions to improve the access, quality, and value of patient care. 2019 ACCC Award Winners

The 36th National Oncology Conference is an opportunity for ACCC to confer special recognition to members of the oncology community who have distinguished themselves in service to patients and families, the general public, the profession, and the Association. ACCC will present three awards: The Annual Achievement Award is being presented posthumously to Arti Hurria, MD, FASCO, City of Hope; the Clinical Research Award to Ethan Basch, MD, MSc, Director, Cancer Outcomes Research Program, UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center; Professor, Hematology and Oncology; Associate Editor, Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA); and the David King Community Clinical Scientist Award to Paul D. Hansen, MD, FACS, Liver and Pancreas Surgeon, Hernia Surgeon, General Surgeon, Providence St. Joseph Health, Portland, Oregon. More information is available here.
