ROCKVILLE, Md. – Becky L. DeKay, MBA, became President of the Association of Cancer Care Centers at its 40th Annual National Meeting on April 2, 2014. She is Director of Oncology Services at the Feist-Weiller Cancer Center at LSU Health Shreveport in Louisiana.
“I am honored to serve as President of the Association of Cancer Care Centers during this transformative time in healthcare,” said Ms. DeKay. “ACCC has long been an advocate for ensuring patient access to quality care. We know that the continuous delivery of quality cancer care is a journey, not a destination. And I can think of no better partner for this journey than ACCC.”
Ms. DeKay has been active in ACCC since joining the staff of LSU Health Shreveport in 2003. She has served on the Governmental Affairs Committee, chaired both the Membership and the Strategic Planning Committees, and has published articles in the Association’s journal. More recently, she served as ACCC Treasurer for two years.
Ms. DeKay oversees the functions in the Feist-Weiller Cancer Center, a 60,000-square-foot facility that houses the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital affiliate program for pediatric patients, adult hematology and oncology, surgical oncology, ENT oncology, digital mammography, diagnostic radiology, and computed tomography, as well as clinical research. She has served on various community boards and chaired numerous development fundraisers.
Ms. DeKay received her master’s degree in business administration from Centenary College of Louisiana.
Since 1974, ACCC has advocated for quality comprehensive cancer care for all—a guiding principle under healthcare reform. ACCC continues to provide resources, tools, and networking to support the nearly 20,000 cancer care professionals from 1,900 hospitals and practices nationwide that are affiliated with ACCC.
