Association of Community Cancer Centers Launches Oncology Drug Database

New online resource for coding, billing, and reimbursement information

ROCKVILLE, Md. – The Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) is pleased to announce the launch of the ACCC Oncology Drug Database. This comprehensive, online tool is a robust resource for any cancer care team member who needs immediate access to information on oncology drug coding, billing, and reimbursement—including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, administrators, practice managers, coders and billers, and financial advocates.

In the fast-changing world of oncology care and healthcare reimbursement, accessing timely, accurate reimbursement information can be challenging and time-consuming. ACCC’s Oncology Drug Database is a user-friendly tool that puts information on prescription oncology drugs at the users’ fingertips, including information for both provider-administered (“Part B”) and prescribed ("Part D") drugs commonly used in treating cancer patients in the ambulatory setting. The Oncology Drug Database includes both therapeutics and supportive care products.

ACCC’s Oncology Drug Database is the latest example of the association’s long-standing commitment to providing needed, practical resources for the multidisciplinary cancer care team. "ACCC developed the Oncology Drug Database because we recognized that in the rapidly-evolving world of oncology, there is an urgent need for a strong resource that provides a one-stop shop for information pertaining to oncology drugs," said ACCC President Becky L. DeKay, MBA.

The Oncology Drug Database is easy to use. Users simply search a drug’s generic or brand name and are directed to a drug-specific webpage with information for that drug, including:

  • Billing (HCPCS, NDC) and diagnosis (ICD-9) codes
  • Medicare payment limits (does not include reduction due to sequestration)
  • FDA-approved indications
  • Drug manufacturer information, including contact information for the medical affairs department and reimbursement specialists (for drugs that remain under patent protection).
