The Association of Community Cancer Centers Mourns the Loss of Retired CFO Lois Utterback

ACCC Staff, Board of Trustees, and Executive Committee members mourn the loss of the Association’s former Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Lois Utterback. Living with leukemia for more than five years, Lois passed away on September 19, surrounded by family and friends. She is survived by her husband Greg, and two sisters.

Lois served as ACCC’s Chief Financial Officer for more than 30 years. Her connections to ACCC board members were significant and lasting, and she always looked forward to national meetings where she could build on those relationships. While Lois took her role as CFO very seriously, she always did so with a smile. Her warmth and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her.

“Lois was the rudder who steered ACCC toward a course of fiscal stability—even during challenging times like the COVID-19 pandemic,” said ACCC Executive Director Christian G. Downs, JD, MHA. ”She was dedicated to ensuring the financial sustainability of the Association so that its member programs and practices could benefit from ACCC’s education and resources and, ultimately, improve the lives of patients with cancer and their families.”

Stewardship and integrity were not just core values for the organization, they were tenets that Lois lived and practiced daily. In addition to her dedication to ACCC, its mission, and core values, Lois was actively involved in community service, her Church, and in spending time with her beloved husband and Huskies.
