Athena Puski is a certified genetic counselor at University of Iowa Health Care and has been providing genetic counseling for individuals with all cancer types at the University’s Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. She has helped integrate genetic counseling into a multi-disciplinary breast health clinic and has worked to assess downstream revenue generated from genetic counseling for hereditary breast cancer. She has extensive clinical experience working with various cancer types, including breast, gynecologic, gastrointestinal, neuroendocrine, renal, hematologic, and skin. She serves as the cancer center’s genetic counseling liaison for the Commission on Cancer and National Accreditation Program for Breast Cancer committees.
Ms. Puski earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and bachelor’s degree in Spanish language and literature from Central College in Pella, Iowa. She went on to earn a master’s degree in genetic counseling from Ohio State University.
