Mia Nutter, MBA is a financial navigator at Emory Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University in Georgia. As part of a multidisciplinary and comprehensive cancer care team, Mia works in collaboration with the clinical team as support staff along with the nurse navigator, social worker and dietician serving as a navigator to the patient, family and caregivers and assisst them with financial resources to prevent impediment of patient care from diagnosis to survivorship. She has 19 years’ experience in healthcare including leadership, advocacy, and various revenue cycle positions including financial counseling. Mia is the liaison for the patient to various entities and serves as a concierge to the patient to help them with various financial assistance programs, resources, and grants by taking this extra burden off their shoulders while they are preparing to heal. She works with financial counselors, charity, Medicaid office (DFCS/GA Health Dept) , pharmaceutical companies, preauthorization, patient financial services department and other departments to assist patients who are facing financial toxicity and utilize these resources to help alleviate the financial strain as well as educate the patients throughout their continuum of care as new programs arise. She is also a graduate of the ACCC Financial Advocacy Bootcamp.
