David M. Latini, PhD, MSW, is an associate professor of urology at the Baylor College of Medicine. He is a clinical psychologist and oncology social worker focusing on the quality of life and symptom management of bladder and prostate cancer survivors. Dr. Latini’s work has a strong emphasis on improving access to cancer survivorship care for underserved groups, particularly persons with low health literacy and members of the LGBT community. Dr. Latini’s work has been funded to develop and evaluate a symptom management patient education program for low-literacy men who are being treated for localized prostate cancer. He and his colleagues on the BCAN Survivorship Working Group recently published their work describing the first bladder cancer survivorship care plan.
Dr. Latini’s work has been funded by the National Cancer Institute, National Institute of Mental Health, American Cancer Society, Department of Defense Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program, Baylor College of Medicine, Mt. Zion Health Fund, and the pharmaceutical industry.
