Samuel K. Caughron, MD, FCAP, is Chair of Pathology at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Shawnee, Kansas, Founding Medical Director for MAWD Molecular Lab, and a managing partner in MAWD Pathology Group in Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. Caughron received his general pathology training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Creighton University Medical Center and completed an advanced fellowship in Molecular Genetic Pathology at Vanderbilt University.
He is recognized nationally for his expertise in bringing advanced molecular testing to community cancer patients. He has served as founding director of two community-based molecular diagnostics laboratories.
Dr. Caughron has served on multiple national professional committees, boards and advisory panels, and currently serves as Vice-Chair of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Personalized Healthcare Committee, as a member of the Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) Economic Affairs Committee, and as a board member for the American Pathology Foundation (APF). Dr. Caughron is a diplomate of the American Board of Pathology with board certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology as well as Molecular Genetic Pathology.
