Kelly Brannen has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare revenue cycle. She has worked at the front desk and in scheduling, pre-certification, billing, and coding, surgery coordination, financial navigation, and in a tech role for a variety of locations like dermatology, ophthalmology, hospital, and oncology. In 2018, Brannen started in leadership, which is where her heart is.
Brannen is currently the patient access manager at St. Joseph’s Candler Health System in Savannah, Ga., where she is responsible for the oncology practices and hospitals’ navigation team as well as oncology’s insurance verification staff. She is also responsible for front end collections, training, and standardization for front desk staff in cardiology and oncology. Brennen will be taking responsibilities in several other specialties in 2022, including obstetrician-gynecology; ear, nose, and throat; cardiothoracic, and vascular.
Her oncology navigation team is fantastic at what they do, bringing in over $5.7 million in revenue for 2021 via free drug programs, manufacturer co-pay assistance funds, or independent foundations. Brennan believes that the navigation team is an integral part of any health system.
