At the conclusion of the Best Practices for Implementing Cancer Immunotherapy in the Community education initiative participants should be able to:
- Evaluate practical issues related to immunotherapy and devise strategies to over the barriers to providing optimal patient care in the community setting.
- Assess alignment of current practice with best practices related to coordination and communication within the multidisciplinary cancer care team to optimize integration of cancer immunotherapies.
- Examine solutions to coverage and reimbursement issues associated with implementation of immunotherapies in the community setting.
- Discuss strategies to engage patients to actively participate in the shared decision-making process.
The initiative is designed to roll out in four phases:
- Identify gaps and develop interventional tools. Advisory Committee members will work collaboratively to identify practice gaps and develop educational interventions to address these.
- Educational design and implementation. This will occur prior to and during the on-site workshops at the two participating cancer programs.
- Analysis and communication. At the conclusion of the initiative, ACCC will report on the barriers identified and work of the two sites to overcome these barriers by implementing a PDSA model.
- Publication. Lessons learned from this initiative will be shared with the ACCC membership and the wider oncology community.
