Who Are We?

Founded in 1991, the Wisconsin Association of Hematology and Oncology (WAHO) is the largest oncology professional organization in the state. WAHO comprises a powerful community of oncologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, and other multidisciplinary care providers involved in the treatment of patients with cancer. 

WAHO is one of 23 State Chapter Members managed by the Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) and is a State Affiliate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Our members receive valuable educational content and innovative resources designed to keep them ahead of the local and national challenges and trends directly impacting the high-quality care their patients deserve. 

We collaborate with internal and external organizations to support our mission of improving patient outcomes and the treatment of cancer in the State of Wisconsin.

To carry out our mission, we strive to:

• Promote the highest professional standards of oncology and hematology in Wisconsin;
• Provide oncologists and hematologists a forum for exchanging ideas, data, and knowledge necessary to provide the most up-to-date care available;
• Support the search for more effective treatments by enrolling patients in well-designed clinical trials;
• Assist oncologists and hematologists in providing their patients the best treatment available, including treatments available only on clinical trials; and
• Serve as a resource to insurers in the definition of standards of care for oncology and hematology.

Our goals are to:

• Advocate on state and federal legislative issues impacting patient access to care;
  
• Provide an education forum for our members on the current technologies and medical best practices in cancer care delivery; and
• Communicate changes and updates in oncology practice to our members and the broader community.
