Who Are We?

Founded in 1996, the Hawaii Society of Clinical Oncology (HSCO) is the largest oncology professional organization in the state. HSCO comprises a powerful community of oncologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, and other multidisciplinary care providers involved in the treatment of patients with cancer.

HSCO is one of 23 State Chapter Members managed by the Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) and is a State Affiliate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Our members receive valuable educational content and innovative resources designed to keep them ahead of the local and national challenges and trends directly impacting the high-quality care their patients deserve.

We collaborate with internal and external organizations to support our mission of improving patient outcomes and the treatment of cancer in the State of Hawaii.

To carry out our mission, we strive to:

• Improve the quality of oncology care available to the people of Hawaii;
• Support oncology education and facilitate the development and use of new cancer management techniques in the community;
• Serve as leaders in the oncology field, representing our members and the local community at state and national events;
• Provide access to scientific, socioeconomic, clinical, and other relevant data; and
• Promote collegial relationships among oncology professionals in Hawaii.

Our goals are to:

• Identify and advocate on state and federal legislative issues impacting patient access to care;
• Promote grassroots advocacy by developing relationships with other local and national oncology groups;
• Serve as a forum for discussion on clinical trials legislation and outcomes research;
• Monitor and respond to appropriate legislative and regulatory concerns of the membership;
• Communicate changes and updates in oncology practice to our membership and the broader community.
