Pre-Flighting

  • Electronic files required. Electronic ad files will be archived for one year from the date last used and then erased.
  • All ads must be high resolution PDF files and either PDF/x-1a or PDF/x-4 is acceptable. if your ad requires a bleed, be sure that you have selected "Use document bleed settings" when creating the PDF.
  • All files and embedded art must be in CMYK.
  • Please do not use keyboarded italics or bold.
  • Avoid using hairline rules and a minimum weight of 0.25 point rule is recommmended.
  • Note: there is no restriction on file size and, if you submit electronically, the Te3amworks site is open 24 hours a dayf. Mailing a disk is no longer necessary.
  • Advertisers should send ads to our United Litho Teamworks site. A special ad submissions folder for each issue will be created, for example, Oncology ads NovDec 09.
  • Navigate to the site, http://teamworks.unitedlitho.com, using a web browser.
  • Login: oncologya
  • Pasword: oncologya
  • Find the folder named with the appropriate issue date (ex: Oncology ads NovDec 08) and select it.
  • Upload the ad using the tool bar on the left side of the page. Select "Upload files to SeeFile" which is the top green button.
  • If a window appears asking whether to "Trust the Certificate," select Trust. Okay, or Allow.
  • Drag and drop the ad file onto the Seefile box or Brose for the ad file on your computer. The upload may take a few minutes and a scroll bar will appear.
  • When the upload has finished, you will see thumbnails of your immages appear in your folder. Quit Teamworks or the browser.
  • Notify the art director, Connie Dillman, by email that a new file is on the site: cjdillman@cox.net. Please include the name of the ad file in the email.

If you would like to preflight a PDF-based ad, simply upload the PDF into the "In" folder that is in the pre-existing folder that's named "Pre-flight."

When the upload finishes, it will enter a queue to be processed. After a few minutes, (maybe longer), the PDF will be moved into either the "Passed" or "Rejected" folder.

If a problem is detected with your ad, look for a file named with your original filename and the word__generated" added to appear in the rejected folder (Ex: you upload ad.pdf; the system creates a file namedd ad_generated.pdf). This file will give you the details as to what is wrong with each problem being illustrated on a separate Acrobat layer. Note that yuo must be in Adobe Acrobat to see the layers. It will work with the free version (Adobe Reader).
