WittKieffer and Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) have partnered in the national search for its next SVP, Topper Cancer Institute. The Senior Vice President will build upon the already existing distinguished clinical service and in partnership, with Physician-in-Chief, Suresh Nair, MD, will lead its new Institute model and structure, shepherding further growth and recognition, as well as continued expansion across newly developing LVHN sites.

Reporting to the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, John Pierro, and in partnership with Dr. Nair, the SVP will be responsible for promoting clinical collaboration and integration across the organization, fostering even greater coordination of multidisciplinary care. This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative and highly respected oncology leader to develop a vision and guide the expansion of cancer programs and research while maintaining a laser focus on care delivery and outcomes in a high performing integrated care delivery system.

Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute offers a wide range of cancer services in convenient and patient-focused locations, namely the John and Dorothy Morgan Cancer Center at Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH)–Cedar Crest, the Cancer Center at LVH– Muhlenberg and the Health Center at Bangor. Breast Health Services are offered in 10 locations throughout the region, and through mobile mammography. The faculty of Lehigh Valley Cancer Institute is composed of physicians who are cancer care specialists and board certified in their fields. In 2019, the cancer program saw 3,738 new cancer patients. LVHN offers a variety of innovative services, including, the first cancer center in the region using a system (SpaceOAR®), was the first in the region offering Gamma Knife® Icon™ and Varian Edge®, and the Institute has the largest robotic surgery program in the region, making world class technology available close to home. Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute is affiliated with Memorial Sloan Kettering and its Cancer Alliance Disease Management Team. As one of just three MSK Cancer Alliance Partners in the nation, this partnership has strengthened our quality of care and provided our patients access to precision medicine testing, leading-edge clinical trials, and collaboration with patient management and second opinions.

Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate will have a proven track record of success in strategy and market development with ten years of progressive experience and contemporary knowledge of hospital inpatient, outpatient, and specialty practice operations with an oncology service line.
  • Master's degree in Health Administration or Business Administration or a related field is required.
  • Well-honed negotiating skills based upon a philosophy of seeking win/win solutions for physicians and the system.
  • Experience with bundled payments and other progressive payment models.
  • Track record of working collaboratively with employed physicians and private practitioners is critical as is a strong understanding of the current trends and general concerns of physicians. It is fundamentally important that candidates have superb physician relations skills, with the ability to quickly establish oneself as a credible, confident, open leader.
