Job Summary:

Manages the delivery of ambulatory patient care, which typically includes nursing, and may include laboratory, radiology, dental, etc. Facilitates the flow of patient care activities; may also participate in practice or center management operations.

The UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center is an accredited National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center. The NCI-Designation recognizes the scientific leadership, resources, and the depth and breadth of the research in basic, clinical and population science. As a Comprehensive Cancer Center, we demonstrate the added depth and breadth of research as well as substantial transdisciplinary research that bridges these scientific areas.

The clinical services encompass adult and pediatric tumors across three campuses as well as regional satellite locations. The clinical cancer program is one of the largest clinical services at UCSF Medical Center and encompasses roughly 230 non-physician FTEs, 90+ cost center, and dozens of grant and philanthropic funding sources. At the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center we are truly pioneering care and leaders in all areas of cancer clinical care and research. Required Qualifications:

  • Strong clinic / center patient care management skills.
  • Practice management knowledge in scheduling, customer-service methods, regulatory compliance, accreditation requirements, and / or information technology.
  • Broad knowledge of patient population served and the requirements for the delivery of services.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to create and maintain a climate for effective communication and collaborative decision making. Strong leadership, fiscal, and operations management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, management, and staff from all disciplines.
  • Ability to create and maintain a goal-oriented climate of teamwork, collaboration, and consistent achievement of objectives.
  • Knowledge of relevant healthcare information technology and patient care workflows and processes. Demonstrated knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as related legislative, accreditation, licensing, and compliance environments.
  • Proven ability to organize, manage multiple priorities, and delegate work functions efficiently. Knowledge of current and emerging best practices and technologies in the clinic / center healthcare industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 – 2 years supervisory, project management or quality healthcare experience.
  • Experience in a large academic medical center setting.
  • Experience with QA/The Joint Commission process for quality improvement.
  • Experience supervising in a union environment.

Oncology Certified Nurse License/Certification:

  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California.
  • Active American Heart Association.
  • CPR Certification.
