The VP Chief Nurse Executive for Oncology position is located in Indianapolis, IN.

Job Duties

The VP Chief Nurse Executive (CNE) for Oncology Nursing is responsible for the direct oversight of nursing practice in all oncology locations Network-wide through leadership and supervision of nursing in the Cancer Centers, Oncology Navigation, and other clinical areas and services. The CNE is responsible for planning, execution, and evaluation of product line and network nursing / clinical projects that ensure all safety and quality standards for both inpatient and ambulatory practices are met. The CNE leads and enables effective coordination and communication between referring, hospitalist, intensivist, and consulting physicians to develop appropriate care management and evidence-based nursing practice within the Oncology product line for all services. The CNE serves as the clinical dyad to the Oncology Physician Lead and is on the Network Nursing Executive Leadership Team.


  • Minimum five (5) years of nursing leadership required. Experience in oncology nursing preferred.
  • Experience leading change, developing strategy & tactics to improve, innovative use of technology, influence, ambulatory and in-patient experience, and a passion for quality patient care.


  • Master’s degree in nursing, business or another related field required.
  • If master’s is not in nursing, BSN is required.


Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license to practice in the state of Indiana as listed in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).


  • Exceptional leadership skills to foster strong relationships & engage key stakeholders to deliver an efficient nursing process, ensuring ease in accessing safety and quality oncology services.
  • Must be a strategic thinker and be able to analyze data involving many variables and convert it to actionable information. Can think critically and independently resolve problems.
  • Able to build, coach / mentor, motivate, and lead high performing team.
  • Able to develop a clear, realistic, and actionable vision, and provide a results-oriented strategy; collect and analyze data involving many variables to make decisions in a timely manner.
  • Serves as role model for organizational values and supports team through Servant Leadership.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and relationship skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Skilled in improving processes and operationalizing network goals.
