Specialty Pharmacy Technician - Financial/Claims, AON Pharmacy, Ft Myers, FL

Position Summary: 

Independently and accurately perform activities relating to financials and claims, including report generation and submission, adjudication and reconciliation of claims.  The candidate will also assist other areas of the pharmacy as needed.

Key Performance Areas:

KPA 1 – Financials

  • Run financial reports from pharmacy software system
  • Update financial spreadsheets and send to accounting
  • Scan and upload all pertinent documents to a financial folder in the Cloud

KPA 2 – Adjudication and reconciliation of claims

  • Responsible for setting up and adjudicating claims, making sure payable claims push through and rejects are followed up on until they can be filled.
  • Reconcile financial reports with data from Elevate/Payware
  • Post insurance payments and checks received to patients account in CPR

KPA 3 – Customer Service

  • Incoming and outgoing calls to patients.  Routing of calls to appropriate staff.  Answering patient/clinic questions regarding delivery status, Rx update, etc.
  • SP follow-up to assure orders are being processed efficiently.
  • Scheduling deliveries

 KPA 4 – Training and Education

  • Provide ongoing training and quality assurance activities to Pharmacy Technicians and clerks as needed. Keep up on all regulatory and clinical info needed to perform job duties.

KPA 5 – Backup to pharmacy staff

  • Serve as backup to pharmacy staff as needed.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Position Qualifications/Requirements: 

  1. Education: High school diploma, GED or equivalent education is required.
  2. Previous Experience: Minimum of two years’ experience in Retail/Specialty/Hospital Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician preferred; medical terminology and attention to detail required.

Ability to build an engaging culture of quality, performance effectiveness and operational excellence through best practices, strong business and political acumen, collaboration and partnerships, as well as a positive employee, physician and community relations.
    • Self-Management: Effectively manages own time, conflicting priorities, self, stress, and professional development. Self-motivated and self-starter with ability work independently with limited supervision. Ability to work remotely effectively as required.
    • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands from a variety of stakeholders and sites.
    • Computer Skills:
      • Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.

    • Active, unrestricted Pharmacy technician registration required.
