Job Specifics:

  • Join four hematology/oncology physicians, two radiation oncologists and additional surgical and trauma providers in this Center for Cancer Care attached to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, a Level 1 Trauma Center in Rockford, Illinois.
  • Onsite services include: National Cancer Institute and pharma clinical trials, high risk genetics, navigation, and oral adherence management. Radiation therapies that include stereotactic radiosurgery, IMRT, TrueBeam, MammoSite, high dose rate brachytherapy and radiopharmaceuticals. Medical Hematologic therapies include but are not limited to chemo and immunotherapy, antibiotic and hydration, blood cell transfusions and pain management.

Required Qualifications:

  • The job incumbent is required to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned unit(s).
  • This requires the incumbent to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of human growth and development, as well as the physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of the patient population served.
  • Work requires a professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice in order to evaluate, develop and revise care delivery plans, conduct required research, and practice at a level normally acquired through completion of a Master's Degree from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Licensure as an APN Physician Assistant.
  • Current CPR and ACLS certification.
  • Approximately 2 to 5 years progressively more responsible related work experience, with 1 to 2 years experience in assigned specialty area necessary to gain advanced competence in nursing knowledge, skills, procedures, standards, practice, and research.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills are necessary to instruct patients and families, communicate complex theoretical and technical concepts to all levels of department personnel, and collaborate effectively with other healthcare team members.
  • Advanced analytical skills necessary in order to develop, recommend and improve nursing care, policies and procedures, evaluate Nursing Practice Act and Joint Commission compliance, develop educational programs, and conduct scholarly research.
