Scope of Responsibility:

  • Provide patients and caregivers with science-based information about ovarian cancer treatment options, including clinical trials, by considering each patient’s tumor profile and clinical situation.
  • Communicate this cutting edge treatment information in a compassionate and lay-friendly manner.
  • Identify and explain the rationale for specific clinical trials as appropriate.

Duties:

  • Review patient medical history and discuss NCCN guideline-directed standard of care treatment options for ovarian cancer
  • Explain the results and implications of tumor profiling genomic analysis, if available
  • Perform clinical trial searches using Clearity’s online clinical trials finder and explain the rationale for considering identified trials
  • Perform regular patient follow up [via phone and email] to offer additional assistance with treatment options
  • Record key points of consultation discussion(s), subsequent communications (phone or email) in Clearity’s database
  • Stay up-to-date on results for ongoing clinical trials, new drug approvals, and NCCN guidelines
  • Keep abreast of the literature describing the latest and most promising advances in treatment for ovarian cancer

Qualifications:

  • PhD with >= 5 years of clinical oncology or clinical translational cancer research experience, preferably in ovarian cancer
  • Demonstrated knowledge ovarian cancer treatment paradigms
  • Sufficient knowledge of tumor molecular biology to explain mechanisms of action for targeted therapies
  • Experienced and compassionate communicator of medical / genomic information
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Office, Excel, database applications, and file sharing platforms
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Collaborative personality and excellent work ethic
