About this Project

Detection, diagnosis, and treatment of gastric and gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) cancers involves many different specialties within the multidisciplinary cancer care team—outreach and screening, nutrition, surgery, medical oncology, radiology, pathology, nursing, social work, integrative medicine, and administration. Knowledge of effective practices in care coordination and the evaluation of available therapies can help community cancer programs improve the patient experience.

The ACCC Improving Quality Care in Gastric/GE Junction Cancers project seeks to improve the quality of care for gastric and GEJ cancer patients treated at community cancer programs.

The project includes a survey of ACCC members to identify effective practices, up-to-date gastric and GE junction cancer-related news and resources, and Community Resource Centers, ACCC member cancer programs who serve as a resource for cancer care providers who have questions about treating gastric and GEJ cancers.

ACCC is pleased to partner on this project with Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer, an organization dedicated to raising awareness about stomach cancer, advancing funding for research, and providing education and support internationally to patients, families, and caregivers. DDF seeks as its ultimate goal to make the cure for stomach cancer a reality.
