Massive cuts face Medical and Radiation Oncology due to the 2010 proposed Physician Fee Schedule. In the 2010 proposal, Medical Oncologists would face a 6 percent reduction to their services, not taking into account the 21 percent reduction due to the SGR formula. This means that Medical Oncology may actually face a nearly 28 percent reduction in 2010. In the proposed rule, CMS will cut radiation oncology services 40 percent of which 21 percent of that number is due to the SGR formula.
