Georgetown Cancer Center offers chemotherapy services, overseen by hematologist/oncologist, who will coordinate and assist with the care of cancer patients. The chemotherapy infusion suite offers six private rooms, with a television and comfortable chairs for both patients and visitors. The types of infusion available include hormone therapies (including but not limited to – Lupron injections and Zoladex implants) and supportive therapies (including but not limited to – Neulasta injections, blood transfusions, IV fluids, Procrit injections and Bisphosphate therapy). Georgetown Cancer Center is dedicated to Making Communities Healthier® and provides quality care close to home.

Cancer treatment plans can be extremely complex and overwhelming. Georgetown Cancer Center’s patient navigation program helps patients manage the complexities of their treatment plan and connects them with available resources to help them overcome the barriers they may face during their fight with cancer. As a member of the UK Markey Cancer Center Affiliate Network, Georgetown Cancer Center has access to clinical trials and consulting services. The strain of understanding the costs of cancer treatments is also overwhelming. As a result, financial counseling is available to assist in alleviating that stress.

Georgetown Cancer Center is a comprehensive program of services and support throughout cancer care. Psychosocial, nutritional and cancer rehabilitation services are available to provide a multidisciplinary approach to cancer treatment. A wound ostomy nurse provides education and demonstration to patients and families dealing with new or existing ostomies. Support is given in a variety of ways to patients, caregivers, visitors, families and friends of loved ones. Support groups consist of the following: Cancer Support Group, Grief/Living with Loss Support Group and Look Good Feel Better.

American Cancer Society, WEDCO Health Department, Hospice of the Bluegrass, KY Colon Coalition, UK Markey Cancer Center and American Lung Association are a few of the many community partners with Georgetown Cancer Center to provide prevention, education and screening to Scott County and the surrounding areas. Smoking cessation classes, smoking prevention in the schools, lung cancer screenings, late night mammograms for working women, colorectal cancer screening awareness and Slip Slop Slap and Wrap (skin cancer prevention) are all a part of Georgetown Cancer Center’s community outreach program.
