Cancer Program Narrative Description:

The Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center is jointly directed by Cabell Huntington Hospital, the Edwards Foundation, Inc., and the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University. Patients are served at these facilities from more than 29 counties throughout West Virginia, eastern Kentucky and southern Ohio. Our cancer program has been accredited through the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer as a teaching facility since 2002 and offers care for pediatric and adult oncology and hematology patients. The hospital has a dedicated 18-bed inpatient unit with all private rooms with 4 HEPA-filtered rooms for immune compromised patients. Multidisciplinary tumor conferences are conducted weekly. A Lung Nodule Program was launched in April, 2009 to expedite follow-up for patients when a lung nodule is identified. Robotic surgery utilizing the Da Vinci Surgical System has been available since 2006. Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is offered through Interventional Radiology.
