Keynote Speaker to Explore Breakthrough Model for Accountable Leaderhip
ROCKVILLE, MD – March 6, 2009 - Gerald A. Kraines, MD, CEO of The Levinson Institute, will be keynote speaker at the Association of Community Cancer Centers’ (ACCC) 35th Annual National Meeting on Thursday morning, March 19, 2009. The event will be held at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Md., March 18–21, 2009.
Dr. Kraines’s address, “Accountable Leadership and the Cancer Care Team,” will present a breakthrough model for a medical leadership accountability program—the philosophy, components, and the staff required. And he will detail the process needed to implement that system. Dr. Kraines last spoke to the ACCC in 2001 and, at that time, garnered excellent reviews.
According to Dr. Kraines, “Cancer programs are accountable to their hospitals and their patients, as well as to regulatory agencies and insurers. Medical leadership in the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression requires far more than strong personal skills. It requires knowledge and agility in leading change. It also requires knowledge and skill in aligning a cancer program’s structure, managerial practices, and people with its strategy. And that’s exactly what accountable leadership is all about.”
Gerald A. Kraines, MD, (Gerry) is president and chief executive officer of The Levinson Institute. He is also on the faculty of Harvard Medical School. Dr. Kraines’s career has focused on enhancing leadership effectiveness: as an executive for healthcare organizations, as a teacher of leadership, as an executive coach, and since the 1980s, as a consultant to senior executives about leadership systems.
