Association of Community Cancer Centers Launches an Online Oncology Issues Alternative
ROCKVILLE, MD – September 14, 2010 - The Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) has launched an easy-to-read online edition of Oncology Issues, which begins with the September/October 2010 journal. ACCC members will continue to receive their printed copy in the mail, but now they’ll have an additional benefit: a vivid online replica that is accessible from any computer.
The new edition replicates the reading experience online with easy page-turning and zoom-in features. Readers can post notes and save them for future reference. Plus, they can easily share comments and email articles to friends and colleagues. The online edition is available at http://www.accc-cancer.org/oncology_issues. The edition features an in-depth discussion about innovative solutions to the impending oncology workforce shortage.
The technology is provided by NXTbook Media™, which many healthcare associations use to broadcast print materials in easy-to-read editions over the Internet.
Oncology Issues, ACCC's award-winning journal, keeps the cancer care team up to date on the business and economic side of cancer care. It provides expert analysis about legislation and regulations, reimbursement, model programs, and new technology that affect cancer care in the community at both hospitals and practices. Circulation is to more than 17,000 cancer care providers.
The need for an online edition was revealed in a 2010 Oncology Issues’ survey, which asked readers to indicate their wish list. More than one-third wanted to easily find Oncology Issues articles by topic within an easily accessible/searchable archive. About one in four wanted to find an expert or author and ask questions directly, and one in five wanted to share articles with colleagues.
With this wish list in mind, ACCC’s Editorial Committee went to work. The result: ACCC’s new online magazine allows better archiving and faster access of articles, delivers additional and enhanced content, and creates multi-media experiences that allow sharing and emailing of articles and increased contact with authors.
