Best Practices in the Adjuvant Treatment of Breast Cancer

This University of Michigan Medical School and OptumHealth Education activity will review current best practices in the adjuvant treatment of patients with localized breast cancer.
In recent years, improvements in breast cancer detection and in systemic adjuvant therapies (chemotherapy, hormone therapy, or HER2-targeted therapy) have significantly improved patient outcomes. Within the context of this evolving therapeutic landscape, individualized therapy based on disease and patient characteristics has emerged as an important means of optimizing patient outcomes. Experts in the surgical and medical management of breast cancer will discuss current best practices in hormonal and other adjuvant therapy based on individual risk profiles. The optimal approach to adjuvant hormonal therapy while maintaining bone health in these patients will be also be discussed.

Best Practices in the Treatment of Renal Cell Carcinoma

This University of Michigan Medical School and OptumHealth Education activity will address current best practices in the management of patients with renal cell carcinoma.
There has been a paradigm shift in the treatment of metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC) brought about by a rational application of biologic therapies that target molecular pathways involved in disease biology. Within the context of this constantly evolving therapeutic landscape, there is a major need to provide practical information on the optimal management of patients. During this educational activity, experts in the surgical and medical management of RCC will discuss the optimal use of available agents to treat metastatic RCC. In addition, emerging data evaluating novel targeted therapeutic strategies in the metastatic setting as well as in the adjuvant and neoadjuvant settings will be discussed. Clinical case discussions will be used as a basis for providing practical information on optimizing outcomes for patients with RCC.
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, urologic oncologists, urologists, oncology nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants, and other health care professionals involved in the management of patients with RCC.

The Hematology Circle: Optimizing Epigenetic Therapy to Improve Outcomes
An archive webcast and monograph
This activity will comprise a short didactic presentation outlining the rationale for epigenetic and combination therapy in hematologic malignancies followed by case vignettes presented in an open-panel format. The cases will illustrate practical aspects of selecting and optimizing epigenetic therapy for patients with T-cell, B-cell, and myeloid neoplasms. Because patients are important stakeholders in the health care process, some case discussions will feature videos in which patients describe their experience with various therapies.
This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of hematologists, oncologists, and other health care professionals involved in the care of patients with hematologic malignancies.

This 1-hour satellite broadcast includes a detailed review of the most influential data and discussions in lung cancer from this year. Clinical Updates in Multiple Myeloma: Highlights From the 50th American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting
An archive webcast
New combination therapies containing novel targeted agents offer potentially more effective treatments with less toxicity, even in patients who harbor poor prognostic clinical indicators or who have significant comorbidities at baseline, including renal insufficiency or peripheral neuropathy. The optimal dosing and scheduling of novel agents, as well as how best to incorporate them into existing treatment strategies, is also under investigation. At the end of this activity, participants will be able to evaluate the latest data concerning the use of novel agent–based regimens in patients with high-risk MM, as well as the latest strategies for managing potential adverse events in patients with MM.

Emerging Standards of Care: Bringing Advances in Myeloma Therapy Into the Real World
An archive webcast that preceded the 50th American Society of Hematology annual meeting, intended for hematologists, oncologists, nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants, and other healthcare professionals interested in the treatment of patients with Multiple Myeloma. The activity presents didactic lectures and prerecorded video cases contrasting US and European approaches to selecting therapy and managing treatment-related complications in multiple myeloma. The lectures were presented by internationally recognized multiple myeloma experts. The case presentations were prerecorded by community-based multiple myeloma specialists from different geographic regions using actual patient examples from their practices.
