Dispensing Pharmacy: An Option for Private Practices

Audience Polling Questions

Question 1: What is your current situation with regards to a dispensing pharmacy?
Result: Almost 40 percent of the audience reporting having a dispensing pharmacy; 35 percent reported that they are looking into opening a dispensing pharmacy.


Question 2: What do you see as the benefits of establishing an in-house pharmacy?
Result: The majority of respondents chose an alternative means of generating revenue. The second most popular answer was to improve patient compliance with treatment regimens.


Question 3: What drug management trend(s) have had a negative impact on your practice and/or patients?
Result: The majority of respondents said that specialty pharmacy mandates have had the most negative impact on providers and patients.


Question 4: Are you experiencing pressure from payers to solely use their preferred dispensing pharmacies?
Result: The majority responded in the affirmative.


Question 5: Giving the trends we are seeing in market consolidation, do you feel that having an in-house pharmacy is an asset or a hindrance?
Result: Half of respondents found it to be an asset; half were not sure.
