Pharmacy Services Manager, North Seattle area, Washington

Summary:
Puget Sound Cancer Centers has an exciting opportunity for a Manager of our Pharmacy Services in North Seattle area in Washington State. Our physician owned group operates two medical oncology sites; 5 physicians practice in Edmonds and 4 physicians practice in N Seattle. We successfully implemented an EMR over two years ago and have embraced clinical pathways and disease management.

Scope:

  • Oversees pharmacy operations to ensure pharmacy requirements are met.
  • Oversees department job functions and ensures department operates within budget. Establishes and implements departmental policies and procedures.
  • Initiates and follows quality assurance and safety policies and procedures. Consults with physicians and other clinicians to provide expertise on all pharmacy related issues. Analyzes and reports pharmacological and disease management information.
  • Provides hematology/oncology clinical analysis expertise to physicians and clinical staff. Conducts pharmacoeconomic and outcomes research.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Researches and performs critical and statistical analysis of medical and scientific evidence as the basis for disease management guidelines and pharmacoeconomic comparisons of cancer therapies and regimens.
  • Develops and directs the implementation of Drug Management.
  • Oversees pharmacy services in accordance with governmental, legal requirements, and other regulatory standards.
  • Develops departmental goals and objectives in consultation with administration. Establishes and implements departmental policies and procedures.
  • Prepares budget and financial reports. Monitors the allocation of resources. Monitors and informs staff of new drug regulations.
  • Establishes/maintains charging and billing procedures. Assumes responsibility for dispensing all medications. Establishes drug control procedures.
  • Develops drug purchasing systems. Resolves internal coordination problems and analyzes various operating reports.
  • Takes corrective action as necessary. Manages the selection and training/orientation of departmental personnel.
  • Initiates and promotes staff development. Assures proper training of all admixture technicians and pharmacists.
  • Assumes overall responsibility for pharmacy inventory, assuring proper inventory levels, pricing, drug outages, recalls, etc.
  • Evaluates performance and recommends merit increases, promotions, and disciplinary action s. Review departmental performance and ensures compliance with accreditation, quality assurance, legal and other regulatory requirements. Manages the activities of pharmacy staff including Registered Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Acts as education resource and consults with medical staff. Participates in pharmacy teaching and in-service programs.
  • Collects data, prepares reports, answers correspondence, and compiles statisti cs for administrative and regulatory purposes.
  • Maintains confidentially of all information related to patients and medical staff. Performs all functions required of Pharmacist and Technicians as required.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited school of pharmacy and current Washington state licensure.
  • Minimum five years experience as a registered pharmacist, with at least two years prior supervisor y and management experience.
  • Oncology background preferred.

Oncology Clinical Pharmacist, Mountain View, California

The Palo Alto Medical Foundation for Health Care, Research and Education is a not-for-profit health care organization that is a pioneer in both multispecialty group practice of medicine and outpatient medicine. The PAMF Cancer Care Program of Excellence is currently seeking an Oncology Clinical Pharmacist.

Essential Responsibilities:
The Clinical Pharmacist is an integral part of the patient care team, and will work collaboratively with other oncology providers to provide patient-centered care. Responsibilities will include provision of drug information, medication therapy monitoring, pharmacokinetic dosing consultation, adverse drug event monitoring and evaluation, and guideline development and implementation. In addition, the Oncology Clinical Pharmacist will assist the continued development and promotion of clinical oncology pharmacy services throughout the organization.

Essential Requirements:
Qualified candidates must have a PharmD Degree from an accredited college of Pharmacy, valid VA pharmacist license, Board Certification in Oncology, and a minimum of 2 years of oncology pharmacy experience with knowledge of outpatient pharmacy operations and procedures. Must have solid knowledge of pharmacology, drug information, pharmacokinetics, drug interactions, and regulatory requirements. Specialized knowledge of essential policies and procedures pertinent to the medication utilized in the treatment of oncology patients, and in-depth understanding of the technical specifications for the safe and sterile preparation of chemotherapy medications required.
