Summary:

Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, part of the University Missouri Health Care system, received a 3 yr accreditation from ACOS including commendation in 2007; recorded more than 85,000 patient visits/procedures, and 1,200 new analytical cases.

  • Programs and services at Ellis Fischel cover the full range of comprehensive cancer care – from prevention to diagnosis, treatment and research. EFCC is committed to the highest standards of humanistic patient care.
  • As part of an academic medical center, physicians and researchers at Ellis Fischel have the opportunity to conduct ground-breaking multidisciplinary research and clinical trials in a collaborative environment

Position:

  • Offers clinical scientists the opportunity to build their own research program

  • Support staff to assist with Grant writing
  • Deep resources to support new investigators
  • Strong mentoring support system
  • Physicians will provide evaluation/care of patients at EFCC and affiliated hospitals for hematologic and oncologic diseases
  • Provide consultative evaluation/care regarding hematologic and oncologic diseases for patients admitted to the inpatient services
  • Provide an opportunity for senior medical residents to participate on hematology/oncology consultation services under the requirements of the Residency Review Committee for Internal Medicine

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of medicine
  • B/C in Internal Medicine; B/C or B/E in Medical/Hematology Oncology
  • Strong clinical skills and demonstrated interest in research and teaching
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to successfully interact with diverse constituents including external individuals and groups
  • Well versed in cutting edge practices and technology
  • Ability to qualify for an academic appointment at the University of Missouri
  • Licensed to practice Medicine or eligible to obtain a non-restricted medical license in Missouri.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of accredited school of medicine; Ph.D. would be a plus
  • B/C in Medical, Hematology Oncology
  • Strong clinical skills & demonstrated proficiency in clinical and/or basic research
  • Experience in conducting Phase 1 clinical trials is required
  • Background & experience in both academic medicine and pharmaceutical research ideal
  • Interest in building/expanding research programs with basic laboratory scientific interest
  • Well versed in cutting edge practices and technology
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and proven ability to lead and influence fellow physicians
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to successfully interact with diverse constituents including external individuals and groups
