Summary:

The Cancer Program of Our Lady of the Lake and Mary Bird Perkins has been accredited since 1992 by the American College of Surgeons. It is located on a 100 acre medical center campus in the heart of beautiful Baton Rouge, Louisiana on the Mississippi River. The Cancer Program is the largest cancer provider in the state, accessioning over 2,200 new cancer cases annually, or approximately 11 percent of new cases in the state each year. The Cancer Program is home to the Baton Rouge area's only peripheral blood stem cell transplantation program, Louisiana's only high-dose Interleukin2 chemotherapy treatment center and an Oncology Special Care Unit. The Cancer Program has the largest area outpatient treatment capacity and the most inpatient visits than any other local cancer program. And, Our Lady of the Lake is among the first 10 U.S. hospitals accredited in cellular therapy.
One of the important components of the Cancer Program is its successful public private partnership with Louisiana State University (LSU). The Cancer Program and LSU operate one of only twelve CAMPEP-accredited graduate medical physics programs in the nation. The largest medical physics team in Louisiana works together with the nine radiation oncologists to offer the most comprehensive and advanced radiation therapy available including IMRT, IGRT with BrainLAB Novalis and the TomoTherapy Hi-Art System, PET/CT, 4DCT, Novalis radiosurgery (head, body and functional targets) and a full service brachytherapy program. Extended medical staff includes neurosurgeons, radiologists, medical oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians and an oncology dentist.
Essential Responsibilities:
The Cancer Program seeks an individual with a minimum of ten years experience and who is versed in both academic and community hospital settings with a focus on interdisciplinary team design and implementation of comprehensive program elements.
The Medical Director will be responsible for providing the overall direction and coordination of the medical aspects of the Cancer Program to ensure that all services are provided in accordance with clinical and professional standards. The Medical Director will serve as chair of the Cancer Program's Cancer Committee; will be responsible for collaborating with members of the Cancer Program staff to ensure integration and coordination with the Cancer Program; will serve as the Cancer Program spokesperson; and will facilitate the efficient and effective integration, development, coordination, direction and evaluation of Cancer Program clinical and research activities.
