Oncology Pharmacist Coordinator, Cancer Center, Stamford, Connecticut

Job Description:
As an Oncology Pharmacist Coordinator at Stamford Hospital's Bennett Cancer Center's new outpatient pharmacy, you will provide quality patient care in relation to the patient's oncologic diagnosis, prescribed treatment, age group, and other identified needs. You will provide comprehensive pharmaceutical services to oncology patients to assure safe and effective drug therapy. This position requires independent decision-making, clinical judgment, and in-depth knowledge of oncology and therapeutics.

Schedule:
Full-time; generally Monday-Friday, salaried position.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (Pharm.D.) required.
  • License to practice Pharmacy in the state of Connecticut required.
  • Board of Pharmaceutical specialties certification in oncology highly preferred.
  • Vaccine administration certification in the state of Connecticut required.
  • Residency in oncology or equivalent experience as clinical pharmacist in oncology practice setting; PGY1 or PGY2 residency in oncology or equivalent experience (five years).
  • Provide written, spoken and visual communication and oversight to pharmacy students, pharmacy residents, clinical pharmacists and pharmacists.
  • Ability to supervise pharmacy technicians to insure that all activities are within legal limits, regulatory requirements and patient-safe.

As we continue to grow, we have an exciting opportunity for an Oncology Pharmacist. The oncology staff pharmacist will be responsible for the preparation, dispensing, and monitoring of medications, especially those used for oncology patients, throughout the facility. The oncology pharmacist is expected to sustain an environment for the safe, rational, effective, and efficient use of oncology medications prescribed to patients of all age groups. He/She will also be responsible for the direct supervision of technical support personnel. All job duties shall be performed in accordance with all applicable State and Federal laws, The Joint Commission (TJC), and professional practice standards, and policies and procedures of the health system/pharmacy department.

Ideal candidates will have a BS in Pharmacy from an American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy accredited college and have a minimum of two years' experience in inpatient hospital as a staff pharmacist. Ideal candidate will possess a Registered Pharmacist License in the state of Florida. Background in IV and/or chemotherapy preferred.
