Essential Responsibilities:
As an Oncology Services Nurse Navigator, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and if necessary, delegating patient care to a specified group of patients. Essential Qualifications:
Current Ohio RN licensure and BLS certification are required, along with 3-5 years of nursing management experience (acute care Oncology/BMT preferred). BSN or MSN degree is a plus. Candidates with ONS chemo credentials and certification in oncology (OCN, AOCN, AOCNS) receive priority consideration.

Summary:

The Nurse Navigator will ensure interdisciplinary, patient focused, well coordinated system of care for Oncology patients. He/she will serve as a clinical resource with expertise in Hematology Oncology care management. The Nurse Navigator is a patient educator and advocate who will serve as a liaison throughout the clinic and is committed to improve the cancer experience of each patient.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates the knowledge, skill and coordination to provide nursing care and guidance to the cancer patient from early diagnosis to survivorship.
  • Systematically and continually performs the functions of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care according to the nursing process and Oncology Nursing Society standards of practice.
  • Provides education and information to the patient and family, helping to make the care seamless, continuous and comprehensive.
  • Functions in an organized and time conscious manner.
  • Facilitates appointments for consults and support services within established service standard including social work, dieticians and physicians.
  • Serve as essential link between patients and all other cure providers.
  • Work with Cancer Registry staff and others to collect data, track outcomes and support strategic planning processes.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with key customers (physicians, office staff, diagnostic staff, and nurses).

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Nursing, required, with (5 years of experience in Oncology)
  • RN License; Oncology Nurse Certified or obtain within eighteen (18) months of hire.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Possess strong computer skills.
  • Ability to multi-task

Essential Responsibilities:

  • The Registered Nurse will be responsible for facilitating compliance with the requirements of research protocols and good clinical research practice in the management of Oncology clinical trials patients.
