Company Information
Prometheus Laboratories Inc. is a specialty pharmaceutical and diagnostic company committed to developing and commercializing novel pharmaceutical and diagnostic products to help physicians individualize patient care. Recently, Prometheus acquired the exclusive sales and marketing rights in the U.S. to three molecular diagnostic oncology tests recently introduced in the market by Rosetta Genomics, LTD. These microRNA-based tests may be used by Medical Oncologists to help determine optimum treatments and as an aid in diagnosing certain types of cancer. These new tests are now commercially available and we have hired a specialty oncology sales force to market these tests listed below.
ProOnc TumorSourceDx TM
Helps identify the primary origin of metastatic tumors. This test identifies 25 different tumor types.
Clinical Importance: In the U.S., thousands of patients are diagnosed each year with a cancer that has already metastasized without identifying its primary site. As metastases need to be treated according to the primary origin, accurate identification of the metastases’ primary origin can be critical for determining appropriate treatment. Current diagnostic methods include a wide range of costly and time consuming histopathology analyses of the biopsy, imaging methods such as chest X-ray, CT and PET scans and endoscopies.
ProOnc SquamousDx TM
Helps differentiate Squamous from Non-Squamous Non-Small-Cell-Lung-Cancer.
Clinical Importance: When administered targeted therapy, whether currently available or under development, patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the lung have demonstrated varying response patterns ranging from a high incidence of severe or fatal hemoptysis (internal bleeding in the lungs) to a lack of response to treatment.
ProOnc MesotheliomaDx TM
Helps distinguish malignant pleural Mesothelioma from other carcinomas in the lung and pleura.
